Transfer files and text between nearby devices over your local network, without a cloud account.
Why it’s here
A file should not need a new cloud account just to cross the room. LocalSend handles that smaller job: open it on two devices, choose the recipient and transfer over the local network.
It is an open-source project with apps for several desktop and mobile platforms. That makes it useful when the two devices do not share the same operating system.
The boundary matters: both devices need to be reachable on the same network. LocalSend does not replace remote file delivery or a shared cloud folder. Check the destination before accepting or sending a file.
What you can do
- Send files between iOS, Android, Windows, macOS and Linux
- Share text as well as documents and photos
- Transfer over a local network without internet access
- Start without creating an account or logging in
A good fit for
Moving a photo, document or text between an iPhone and a nearby computer or Android device.
Before you download
Install LocalSend on both devices and connect them to the same local network. Device discovery can be affected by network isolation, firewalls or permissions. This is nearby sharing, not a link for sending files to someone far away.
